MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for East Kwaio and Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management & Meteorology (MECDM) Minister Festus Stanley Sofu has encouraged all parents to send their children to school.
He was contributing to the debate on the Education Bill 2023 in Parliament on Tuesday.
Minister Sofu applauded the bill, saying, “This new Bill makes it compulsory for parents to send their children to attend school.
“And so, I encourage our parents to send their children to school.”
He said the bill highlighted that all parents have the responsible of ensuring their children attend school.
Minister Sofu said there should be no excuses for parents to send their children to school.
“It means parents must ensure their children are prepared to attend school,” he said.
He encouraged parents to encourage their children to attend school.
“They are our future. Send them to school. Do not discourage them and do not send them to the plantation and gardens. Education is important for their future. “With this Bill, we must encourage our children to attend school and support them,” Minister Sofu emphatically added.
