SINCE hitting the campaign trail three weeks ago, Caretaker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare will conclude his campaign activities today as is expected of every other candidate contesting in the 2024 Joint Elections on Wednesday.
Reports from East Choiseul reaching Solomon Star last weekend said since returning to his constituency, Sogavare hit the campaign trail, visiting most communities in his constituency over the past weeks.
Everywhere he went, he and his supporters were all dressed in yellow t-shirts carrying the OUR Party flag bearing the captain’s wheel symbol, it was revealed.
A voter from the constituency, Karl Tagolo told Solomon Star that Sogavare has been busy since arriving in his constituency to conduct his campaign.
Everywhere he went, people came out to listen to him, he said.
He said Sogavare will end his campaign today.
Sogavare who was recently bestowed the highest honour in the Choiseul culture is a top contender for the East Choiseul Seat.
All his campaign programs were packed with supporters, it was further highlighted.
Support for the caretaker Prime Minister is said to be very high in his constituency.
Since early March, Sogavare has been moving around the country to launch his party’s manifesto and candidates’ campaign program.
He is the Parliamentary Wing Leader of OUR Party. He has served six consecutive teams in Parliament since his first victory in the 1997 National General Election.
For this year’s NGE, Sogavare is facing four contestants. They are James Kaboke, Moreen Dusaru, Davis Pitamama and David Qurusu.
Most of the candidates have also hit the campaign trail in the past weeks.
During the 2019 NGE, a total of five candidates contested but Sogavare remained triumphant.
