THE 2019 Solchoc Festival is now underway in Honiara following its official opening ceremony, Monday.
The opening ceremony was held at the National Auditorium and was witnessed by cocoa industry representatives, international judges and cocoa farmers from around the country.
The three days event has brought together cocoa farmers, processors, exporters and buyers to share knowledge and increase awareness about cocoa and its importance.
Government has thanked the key stakeholders for organizing the annual event for farmers throughout the country.
Throughout this week overseas experts in the field of cocoa will make presentation and demonstration to local farmers on how best to make their cocoa beans more tasty.
Speaking during the ceremony Australian High Commission Councellor Economic Andrew Schofield said that Australia is very pleased to support Solchoc 2019.
“We are doing it through Strongim Bisnis with the Solchoc Festival and also hoping to commercialize cocoa nurseries and improving drier technology,” he said.
The program will continue today with cocoa talks at the Auditorium.
Public are invited to the presentations.
The cocoa festival will end Thursday.
