THE new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solomon Airlines, Sean Te’o, said they are considering a collaboration with Air Vanuatu to train Air Vanuatu’s cabin crew members to work on Solomon Airlines A320 aircraft.
CEO Te’o confirmed this when asked about Solomon Airline’s assistance to Vanuatu, particularly with the Boeing temporarily grounded in Brisbane.
Following the Solomon Airlines CEO’s disclosure, speculation arises of 16 new cabin crew recruits undergoing training at Air Vanuatu’s Bladinere headquarters.
Daily Post reached out for information regarding the newly recruited cabin crew, however Air Vanuatu responded that they are unable to provide information at this stage, but they plan to issue a press statement once the training is completed.
Solomon Airline revealed that they have supported Air Vanuatu’s operational needs over the past year, particularly during challenging times.
They have significantly expanded their codeshare relationship to include inventory access between Honiara, Port Vila, and Auckland, aiming to ensure a successful experience for their customers.
“The future between our carriers is promising. It is one of service to our customers, as we continue to work together as a team. Solomon Airlines is committed in supporting Air Vanuatu’s operations connectivity between Honiara, Port Vila and other destinations, leveraging each other’s fleet and flight operations,” said the CEO.
“Currently, Solomon Airlines is providing Airbus A320 aircraft whilst Air Vanuatu undertakes a scheduled heavy maintenance C-check on its own aircraft.
“It is a very positive relationship, and our intention is long term – to work together for mutual benefit, as like-minded carriers with similar challenges and opportunities.”
In April 2023, Solomon Airlines confirmed the next phase of partnership co-operation with Air Vanuatu, establishing a wet lease (ACMI) agreement, an important step in improving synergies and efficiencies between their scheduled operations.
