SOLOMON Airlines will celebrate next month’s historic opening of the $60million Munda International Airport Terminal with a special flight.
The airline said it will operate the special, one-off, one-way Airbus A320 flight from Honiara to Munda and on to Brisbane on Tuesday 10th October 2023.
“Passengers onboard will experience the Munda International Airport opening festivities including a special welcome ceremony on arrival.
“International passengers will then re-board in Munda after clearing immigration for travel onwards to Brisbane,” the airline said.
Apart of this special flight, Solomon Airlines said it will also offer seats on the flight at savings of up to 49 per cent on a first come first serve basis.
“We are tremendously pleased to see completion of the new international terminal at Munda and the official opening will be quite a spectacle to witness,” said Solomon Airlines Acting CEO Napoleon Padabela.
“This new facility and new air route will bring far-reaching benefits, boosting tourism, supporting easier cargo movement and contributing significantly to economic growth in the Western Province and Solomon Islands.
“As the national carrier we look forward to operating safe and reliable air services to a second Solomon Islands international gateway,” he said.
