An Australian expert is in the country to conduct hospitality and mico-tourism programmes for interested people in Naha, East Honiara.
Mr. Colin Peter Cashman-Prichard, a specialist in hospitability and micro-tourism said that the six-month course is aimed at individuals who are planning to engage in small business especially in hospitality, and has three main principles: cookery, pastry making and catering.
He said he is here to teach new information and occupational health and safety including new recipes to meeting the needs of students studying for a career in professional food preparation.
According to Mr Cashman-Prichard, teachers and students still need to place the highest priority in basic food skills, amongst others.
He said this is a great opportunity for young people to be involved in; grading will also be done in international standards and if students do proceed there are opportunities for scholarships to be handed out.
