TWELVE Solomon Islanders who completed a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) at APTC Suva campus are now working in Australia’s aged care sector.
The group left the country on Friday last week to the Northern Territory under Australia’s PALM Scheme.
A statement from the Australian High Commission in Honiara said these workers will not only have the opportunity to earn a secure income, they will be developing skills and gaining valuable experience working in an international setting, and will bring these skills back to Solomon Islands.
“This is an excellent example of Australia’s development partnerships working in tandem to achieve real and positive development outcomes,” the statement said.
“APTC provides internationally recognised qualifications in the Pacific, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to enter the workforce, while our PALM Scheme works to provide employment opportunities for our Pacific family, and also filling labour gaps in rural and regional Australia.”
