SOLOMON Power has a new chief executive officer.
He is Martin Sam.
Mr Sam’s appointment was made by the Board of Directors of Solomon Power.
Announcing the appointment today, Solomon Power Board chairman David Quan said Mr Sam has been serving as the chief engineer for Solomon Power for the past 11 years after joining the authority in January 2005 as manager distribution.
Mr Sam replaces Late Donald Kiriau who was Solomon Power’s chief executive officer at the time of his passing early this year.
Mr Quan said Mr Sam will lead Solomon Power through one of its most challenging and yet very exciting phases of growth and development, supported by a qualified, experienced, committed and talented team.
“We look forward to the continued support of all stakeholders, donors and all our valued customers in supporting Martin in his new role as CEO for Solomon Power,” Mr Quan said in a statement to announce the appointment.
He said the Board of Directors look forward to working closely with Mr Sam to bring Solomon Power up to the next level to provide reliable and affordable power supply to all Solomon Islanders, in line with Solomon Islands Government’s National Development Strategy.
Mr Sam has now served Solomon Power for more than 18 years and has a wealth of leadership and technical experience.
Mr Quan said Mr Sam has been acting chief executive officer since April 2022 and before that he was also the acting chief executive officer as and when the incumbent is away.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology in Papua New Guinea. He has also undertaken various short term trainings and courses within the electrical field.
