THE proposed tariff review by the Solomon Water is welcoming news for its customers in the country.
This tariff review was part of the Solomon Water’s 30 Year Strategic Plan.
According to the State Owned Entity (SOE), the review is also part of the plan and this will be discussed with the national government in a few months’ time.
Speaking to the Solomon Star a Honiara resident Steven Ama said this is welcoming news for Solomon Water customers.
“We can’t wait to see the proposed tariff changes in the coming months.
“Hopefully, it will be more efficient for those of us in the low income earners slice.
“This is good news for us,” Mr Ama said.
Meanwhile in the 30 years Strategic Plan, Solomon Water also highlighted that the affordability of water is also a challenge in a nation where tariffs are high.
The SOE also highlighted that the current water tariff in the country that was orchestrated by Solomon Water, is up to three times higher than estimated affordability thresholds which is affecting low income households in the country.
