Close to twenty Solrice Limited employees have completed a two days first Aid training offered by the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society.
The training, which was held on the 15th and 22nd August 2015, was successfully completed, with each of the employees to receive their First Aid certificate.
The First Aid training including that of a health and safety covered on the two days is part of the Solrice Limited’s initiative in having its employees gaining the knowledge of responding to situations of emergencies when it will require their immediate help and assistance.
Speaking during the training last week, Mrs. Monica an employee mentioned that it is the first time she is being able to undergo a training on first aid, which to her is very important as of the environment she is working in, which accidents are a likelihood to occur at any time.
“I am quite pleased for the Solomon Islands Red Cross for this training, as this is the first time I have ever been taught on First Aid. I am really grateful that I have now acquired a fair knowledge on how to respond to an emergency situation that requires first aid,” she said.
Moreover, another employee Lee Laejama also commended the SIRCS First Aid Coordinator for his tremendous experience on First Aid knowledge and practical skills also shared during the two sessions.
“I am quite happy to be receiving first aid training from a qualified and experienced First Aid Instructor such as Luke Soni, who is more concerned about trainees taking seriously practicing various aspects of how to respond to each and every cases of emergencies that can happen,” he explained.
Asked on what he has learned on this two training sessions, Mr Laejama uttered that “First Aid really matters. Accidents can happen anywhere at any time. “Likewise, being a first aider means you are the first most important person on the scene of emergency and that what you do and how you react at that very moment will determine whether the casualty will have a chance to survive and recover or not,” he stated.
The certificate that will be offered to participants of the training will enable them to become first aiders and can perform their first aid skills and knowledge in any situation where there is a casualty who requires immediate attention and help before getting an appropriate medical attention from a clinic or hospital.
The SIRCS First Aid Certificate is valid for two years, a period after which a refresher can be undergone again to re-validate its validity.
Solomon Islands Red Cross Society is proud to be one of the most significant providers of First Aid Training in the country.
The Solrice General Manager Mr. Nick Ellis also commended the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society for facilitating the training as well as his employees for successfully participating.
He also stressed that employees should take heed of what they have leant as it is very important to their workplace.
