Dear Editor – Attached is a picture of the beautiful children from the recent tragedy involving the death of their mother at the hands of their father and are now under the care of Aunty Lydia.
The picture shows the children at the East Medical Centre in Honiara awaiting Dr Nathan Kere to examine and treat them.
They were accompanied by Aunty Lydia and Karina Glass from SolRice.
Sadly, our youngest, Philimon (6 months) still requires treatment to his forehead from the tragic incident but is reported to be recovering well after the care from the team at NRH. Thank you NRH.
The children have been through experiences none of us should ever undergo and are clearly still traumatised by the incident. This has had an effect on their health also with all the kids reported to have the flu and a cough.
However, and the main purpose of this update, is that we at SolRice would like to formally recognise the response from the good doctor Kere at East Medical who has very kindly offered to treat the children for free.
This is yet another generous caring offer from another key member of our society, supporting the great work by Seif Ples, the Guadalcanal Provincial Women____s Group and many others who have stepped up when help was needed.
We thank you so very much.
Kind regards
Nick Ellis
