SOLRIGHT FC has taken over the lead in the 2021 Solrais Women’s Premier League (SWPL) table with 19 points after securing their sixth win on Saturday.
The new look Solright side edged former leaders Koloale FC in a nail biting 3-0 encounter at the Lawson Tama to take the lead by a point.
It was one of the toughest clashes in round one of the SWPL season.
Ella Vakatoa scored a brace while former Koloale player, Prudence Fula scored one goal to help Solright sit at the top of the SWPL table.
Koloale had a golden chance to break their deadlock from a penalty but was unfortunately wasted.
Solright FC coach Godfrey Manehioha was impressed with the win against a tough Koloale side and to go top of the table.
He said the win against the best team in the league is a morale boost ahead of the final match of round 1 against Frigates United on Sunday 6th June.
Solright has one match remaining before they complete round one of the SWPL season.
They will meet Frigates FC for their final round one fixture.
In other women’s football highlights, debutant Ha’arosia FC is improving since joining the highest football competition for women in the country.
Ha’arosia registered their third win of the SWPL season defeating West Honiara FC 5-0 on Saturday.
Yesterday’s SWPL matches saw defending champions, RSIPF FC thrashed Borderline FC 12-0 to maintain the third spot with 16 points, Frigates FC defeated Marist FC 3-0 to maintain the fourth spot with 15 points and Naha edged an improved Haura FC side 1-0 to move two places up on the fifth spot with 10 points.
