Twenty five members of the Sons of Solomon Association International (SOSAI) completed a one-day workshop at the Heritage Park Hotel last week.
The workshop was aimed to formulate a policy that would govern how the organisation would address unemployment through increasing employment opportunities.
It carried the theme, “Articulating a new policy framework for increasing employment opportunities for Solomon Islanders”.
SOSAI thanked Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SICCI) to participate in the workshop.
Representatives from SICCI, Vanessa Teutao and Mr. Charles Pesson delivered a brief introduction about SICCI as well as answer questions.
The workshop also covered three focal questions, “what are some of the root causes of unemployment in Solomon Islands?”, “how can we create a positive situation?”, and “how can we improve employment opportunities for Solomon Islanders?”
Member participants expressed numerous views which were then compiled in draft form.
A final copy of SOSAI’s policy on the employment agenda is expected to be showcased during SOSAI’s Annual Corporate Function on December 17th.
General Manager, Mr. Sanjay Bhargava said of the SOSAI events held so far at the Heritage Park Hotel, “we are pleased to support the initiative taken and will continue to render our services as and when called for”.
For more information about SOSAI, the general public may contact executives on phone 8741502 & 7489984 or enquire at our street booth which will be soon located at Honiara Town Council bus-stop after seeking permission from the city authorities.
Also in the meantime, SOSAI continues to advocate for the 16 Days Activism to “stop violence against women and girls” and the White Ribbon Campaign that stands for “men against violence”.
