SPTO: The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is organising the participation of member countries at the Adventure Travel and Backpacker Expo this week.
It’s also excited to announce that three of these members have been nominated for the “Best International Adventure Activity” award. They are The Islands of Tahiti, the Solomon Islands, and the Kingdom of Tonga.
Chris Nemaia from the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau, one of the nominated representatives, says he aims to recommend and promote his destination in the Solomon Islands to consumers, travel agents, wholesalers and the media.
Representatives from the Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, and the Fiji Backpacker’s Association will be showcasing their amazing destinations and adventure products at the event, which is expected to attract both local and overseas exhibitors in one of the Pacific’s major tourism source markets – Australia.
The SPTO contingent, led by E-Marketing Specialist Pauline Benson, will also be conducting a number of seminars over the two days, at the Sydney Town Hall from the 8-9 November.
Aside from showcasing the Pacific destinations, SPTO will be promoting the South Pacific Specialist programme, with the aim of increasing and strengthening travel agents’ knowledge on the products and services available and the unique selling points of the 16 beautifully diverse Pacific island destinations.
Members of the Fiji Backpacker’s Association are representing Fiji’s private sector which include Ratu Kini’s Backpackers & Dive Resort, Smugglers Cove Beach Resort and Beachcomber Island Group.
The Expo, which is an event held annually in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane is the only travel adventure travel expo series in Australia since 1995 and boasts a wide range of tourism products from as high as the Himalayas, the icy cold European continent to the sunny beaches of Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands or Tahiti.
STA Travel, the expert team for youth travel and life-enriching experiences are the major sponsors for the expo and they will be integrating the expos with their ongoing marketing to ensure the message reaches as many potential visitors as possible, with the Pacific benefitting from such exposure.
The Adventure Travel Expo Awards will be held on Saturday night where the winner for “Best International Adventure Activity” will be announced. Further Expo updates, prizes and promotions can be found on their Facebook page and websites.
