About 20 Salesians had the opportunity to spent time in prayer and reflection at the Emmaus Conference Centre, Port Moresby.
The retreat commenced on the 29th June and concluded on the 5th July 2014. The group spanned 50 years with the youngest being 26, while the wisest was 76 years old. 14 salesians made the second Spiritual retreat that commenced on the 6th July.
Facilator Br Raymond Callo sdb, in-charge of the Formation of the Brothers in the Philippines North was the Facilator at both the retreats. Pointers for prayer and reflection helped the retreatants reflect on their lives morning, while sessions dwelling on Salesian themes in the light of GC27 were touched upon in the afternoon sessions. It gave every participant an occasion to reflect on his personal life story in the light of the story of Christ and Don Bosco and the story of the community. The Eucharistic celebrations, Adorations and Rosaries each evening were well animated and gave an opportunity for the participants to share their experiences of the past.
“The retreat has helped me deepen my relationship with God and it has encouraged me to ensure that I radiate the light of Christ always. It has given me an occasion to thank God for the protection and care he has offered me all these years” said Br Reto Wanner sdb. The other participants expressed similar sentiments.
At the end of the retreat all renewed their Profession of Faith to live and work as committed Salesians for the good of the young.
