THE Solomon Islands men’s football squad departed yesterday for their Asian tour.
The team of 23 players and three officials departed Honiara International Airport yesterday and will arrive in Asia a week ahead of their two international friendly matches.
The first friendly match will be up against Malaysia scheduled for June 14th followed by Singapore on June 18th.
This is the Solomon Islands first international friendly match against Malaysia and the second against Singapore.
Solomon Islands and Singapore have met back in 2019 and Singapore beat Solomon Islands 4-3.
These two matches are vital for the assessment of players at the international stage, as they continue preparations for the Pacific Games 2023 and the OFC World Cup Qualifiers later on.
Both opponents will also provide the challenges that will help especially the young players get more exposure.
Vital ranking points are also up for grabs so the team will be determined to put out their best.
