THE NATIONAL Under 16 squad is leaving the country, Tuesday to join the Oceania U-17 competition in American Samoa.
Coach Jacob Moli said the young team had been undergoing tense preparation and are in good shape for the competition.
Moli said he is hopeful the team will produce required results.
“They have shown great spirit in their preparatory friendly matches and are in good spirit to compete at the regional competition.
He said the young team is well versed with each other’s play and are skilful and fast.
“The boys have one advantage which is speed. If that can combine well with their ball work, attacking, and goal work, we can create goal opportunities on every counter attacks.”
“Although the boys are smaller in terms of body size, how a game is played is what matters.”
The coach said their two friendly matches had given them areas that need patching.
Team captain Junior Hou said the team spirit is high and that they are hopeful in producing good results.
Meanwhile Moli said the team is taking a rest before they jet-off to American Samoa for the competition.
Solomon Islands have recently missed out on a number of regional soccer competitions.
