South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) has ordained a new church Minister a fortnight ago.
Pastor Stephen Ausuta was ordained as a Reverend to become one of Church Ministers of South Sea Evangelical Church.
The ordination was held at Stephen’s home village, Loina in North Malaita on Sunday 4th October 2015.
The ordination was conducted by the head of the South Sea Evangelical Church, Reverend Bishop Matthias Lima on what was seen as an historical and important event for the Northern Association, in the Northern Region of SSEC.
In an interview with Rev. Bishop Lima, he revealed that Pastor Ausuta’s ordination is a history for Loina Local church and the Northern Association in that they have never hosted or witnessed such event in their Association in the past.
Stephen Ausuta also makes history as he is the first in the SSEC community to follow the footsteps of his late father, Rev. Jotham Ausuta.
His late father was one of the pioneers of South Sea Evangelical Church in the Solomon Islands.
Rev. Stephen Ausuta is currently serving as the Regional Superintendent for the Northern Region of SSEC in the Malaita Province.
The ordination of Pastor Ausuta was also timely and important for the Northern Association as they have just witnessed the ordination of a spiritual father and an overseer for their Association.
The event brought hundreds of people from around the SSEC Northern Region in Malaita Province and other church ministers and leaders from other Regions in the country including the Southern Region, Honiara Western Central Region, Guadalcanal Region, Makira Region and Rennel Bellona Region.
The three days event went on from 2nd to 4th October. There were celebrations during the nights which saw few marching bands performed. The event ended with an island feast on Sunday 4th after the official ceremony in the morning.
