After months of building, St Barnabas Cathedral finally completed and dedicated the Melanesian Brothers household at its premises, on Sunday.
The new household was blessed by the Church of Melanesia’s Vicar General, the Right Reverend Bishop Johnny Kuper, authorized by the Father of the Brotherhood, the Most Reverend David Vunagi, Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia.
Witnessed by the Dean of St Barnabas, the Very Reverend Davidson Nwaeramo, the blessing of the household marks the start of another milestone.
The Melanesian brothers now have a household, where they can carry out their mission work in the parish and assist the St Barnabas Cathedral clergy.
Representatives of the Melanesian brothers were at hand to witness the occasion.
The household was closed previously due to its deteriorating state.
With the assistance of the St Barnabas parishioners, business houses, certain Government officials, the church and companions of the Brotherhood, the Brothers’ household was built entirely through their generous contributions.
The program ended with a function at the Melanesian house where, St Barnabas religious groups including the Brothers’ companions, Mothers Union, Sunday School, Mens Fellowship and others witnessed the handing over of the household keys to the Melanesian brothers’ Head Brother.
