SAINT (ST) John Ambulance Solomon Islands is looking to expand its emergency medical service to the provinces following the opening of its new headquarters in Honiara last week.
Speaking at the opening of the St John Ambulance SI headquarters, the Governor General Reverend David Tiva Kapu, who is also the President of St John Ambulance Solomon Islands, said with the newly opened headquarters, the organization will extend its service to provinces.
“It will allow us to reach patients faster and extend the lifesaving work of St John Ambulance to more provinces across our beloved Solomon Islands.”
“This new headquarters is a testament to what can be achieved when we work together as a community, as a nation and as part of a global network,” GG Kapu said.
“St John Ambulance Solomon Islands proudly provides the nation’s primary emergency ambulance service on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and so St John Ambulance prides itself in saving lives and helping Solomon Islanders and visitors with emergency medical care.
“The facility is not just a building. It is the heart of our operations, a space where we will coordinate life-serving efforts and a center from which we will continue to train and equip our teams to respond to emergencies across the country,” he added.
The new headquarters is expected to enhance the organization’s ability to provide efficient and effective emergency medical services across Solomon Islands.
The new headquarters, located at the Old Girl Guide headquarters, was built with the support of the Australian Government and is a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between Solomon Islands and Australia in health and emergency services.
