THE Saint Theresa Takwa Parish in Takwa Village Northern Region, Diocese of Auki Malaita Catholic Church will be consecrated today.
Speaking to Solomon Star on Friday, Honiara Based Committee Chairman, Dr Lawrence Diau said the dedication of the new building ‘St. Theresa Takwa Parish’ building has taken for almost 20 years to complete.
However, Dr Diau said since the establishment of the Honiara Based Committee two years ago, they have managed to complete the church building this year and will be consecrated this morning.
“Less than two years ago, my committee was able to pick up work from where it’s left. Now all the work that is needed to be done is complete and we will witness the dedication,” Dr Diau said.
Apart from the church building, Dr Diau said his Honiara Based Committee has also managed to complete a priest house, and some minor things that were not planned.
“All this are significant achievements and we are looking forward to witness the blessing,” Dr Diau said.
Dr Diau stated Bishop Peter Houhou of Auki Diocese, Malaita will consecrate the church building today.
He added Takwa Parish looks after more than ten to fifteen thousand parishioners around the Northern Region. Thousands of parishioners are expected to flood the event today.
Meanwhile, Dr Diau acknowledges and thanked business houses, individuals, friends and those living overseas who supported the fundraising drives towards the completion of the church building and other minor infrastructures.
