POLICE Commissioner, Frank Prendergast has called on the general public to stay away from counting stations both in Honiara and the provinces as counting started yesterday.
Mr Prendergast said that it is important that the public stay away and not to crowd the premises of various counting stations.
He added that with the Election results expected to be broadcasted live on SIBC, the National Broadcaster, everyone should refrain from going to the counting stations and rather stay at their homes or camps and listen for the results via the radio.
“Stay away from the counting stations.
“It is important that we do not disturb those counting and also we do not get in the way of Police who are providing security whilst counting progresses,” Mr Prendergast said.
He added that results will soon be declared through the media, therefore there is no need for people to crowd up the counting stations whilst counting progresses.
