AN alleged car theft incident yesterday has ended abruptly after a high-speed police chase from China to Kukum saw the vehicle crashed into the road-side railing, just few metres from the Kukum traffic Police post.
This car was alleged to have been stolen at China Town with a baby inside the car.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was then arrested few minutes after the crash, it was reported.
A Kukum Traffic Police Officer said police had been initially involved in the pursuit of this car when they were alerted by the owner of the car.
Solomon Star was told that the Police and the owner of the car chased the driver after the stolen vehicle incident was reported.
The vehicle ended up climbing the iron railing at Kukum opposite the Pacific Casino area between the Kukum Police station and Meat Lovers.
When this paper contacted the Kukum police station, an officer confirmed that the child was unhurt during the chase.
The man in the stolen car was trapped in the vehicle after the wreck and was taken into custody at the scene.
He is now in police custody waiting questioning when he gets sober. It was also reported that he was under the influence of alcohol.
No names have been released.
