Dear Editor – A very generous American educator who has been enormously caring and giving, over the past 22 years to Solomon Islanders, of her time and financial resources to youth, students, fathers and mothers, had her purse stolen on 14/01/16 at the Central Market car park.
Inside the purse were the normal goodies such as keys, cards and cash that thieves can gloat over with their comrades as a good catch of the day.
But, for her, it was very upsetting.
So you snatched her purse and ran away, but what you failed to see were the many people who shared caring concerns about her welfare.
One man used his mobile to call the police, and as women normally do, they exhibited a touch of kindness towards her with their eyes and hands.
Usually, thieves do not know the background of who they hurt but if you or one of your partners should happen to read this article Mrs Boykin is one of the primary and secondary teachers in this country.
She taught at KGVI and Woodford International School, performed testing activities for SICHE, initiated a programme to build libraries in Honiara and bought with financial contributions more than 40,000 books for schools in Honiara and some of the provinces.
There is more but I will spare you the rest.
Well young man, you may not be a believer in God but everything you do on earth is known to Him, and one day, you, as well as all of us, will have to come face to face with that bit of reality – the one-way ticket to the spiritual realm – where you will be asked to reflect on the things you did on earth that prepared you to travel throughout the other spiritual worlds of God.
Believe me, there is yet time for you to change and turn your life around. By consistently visiting and interacting with the congregation of your local church you have an opportunity to change your ways and become an honest, decent citizen of the Solomon Islands and I strongly suggest to you to take that path.
Don Boykin
