‘Christians are spreading false information’
A CONCERN citizen is urging the good Christians to stop spreading false information about COVID-19 vaccine which causes fears and confusion among our citizens stopping them from taking their vaccines.
The concern citizen who wish to withhold his identity said since the introduction of the COVID-19 some Christians are going around causing fear among our people.
“I was one of those who were discouraged to take the COVID-19 vaccine because some people who professed to be a hard core Christians said the vaccine is the mark of the beast.
“They also claimed that this what the bible talks about in the last days which honestly causing fears to most of the ordinary citizens not only in Honiara but the word also spread to some communities in other provinces,” the concern citizen claimed
Solomon Star news also heard such sentiments among people on streets in Honiara at the moment.
The concern citizen said this kind of people should be held accountable for spreading false information.
“This not time to confusing each other but we should work together and help each other to get their vaccine to protect our families, communities and the country as a whole,” the concern citizen added.
The concern citizen added that our religious leaders in particular can play a crucial role in convincing people to vaccinate.
“It seems these people who claimed to be Christians are believers of conspiracy theories floating in the internet.
“We expect our Church leaders to play a role in promoting the importance of vaccination in this time,” the citizen added.
The concern citizen call on the church leaders to do what they can to overcome COVID-19 misinformation and vaccine hesitancy.
It was understood that only the specialised health workers and doctors can advise if a person is fit to take his/her jab depending on their health conditions
The government has been urging the eligible people above 18 years old to go and take their vaccine.
