THE first chartered flight to Fiji to drop of students will leave on January 27.
The final one will be on February 4.
These were revealed by the National Training Unit (NTU) director Clement Tito, during a conference with students yesterday.
Mr Tito said that he has received advice from Solomon Airlines that the first charter should be made on the 4th February but he said it would be good if that would be the last charter date.
“It’s good we send the students early to avoid late arrivals as experienced over the past years,” Mr Tito said.
“So I propose 27 January to be the first charter and 4th February will be the final one,” he added.
Mr Tito said this is to address the issue of late arrival of students in time for orientation and registrations.
“But this would only be possible if we are work together to send you quickly to your university.
“So let’s work together to meet the projected dates,” he said.
Meanwhile, he revealed that this year the Government has not awarded any pre-service law scholarships.
Scholarships for pilot training are also not being offered this year.
“We only look at priority fields that when students completed their studies and return, they can get a job or create one.”
The Solomon Star understands that in previous years students usually travel late to their respective universities in the region, affecting them in their studies.
