A SOLOMON Islands National University (SINU) student has raised complaints against the 2025 selection process of the Apprenticeship Programme sponsored by the National Government through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) at the university.
The student, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, he demands a clear explanation from MCILI on how it conducts the selection process for the programme.
“I demand a clear explanation from MCILI, because looking at their selection for this year, they only picked a good number of students who just came out of high school, whilst those of us who already have a proficiency license in trades and want to continue under the apprenticeship programme to gain a Grade A license missed out.
“We already provided the necessary documents to MCILI so that we could have an offer for this programme, but instead they only picked a good number of candidates who just came out from high schools.”
The SINU student said the university has competitive students with good grades in the basic electrical programme and so rejecting their applications is totally unfair.
“We went to the MCILI office for an explanation. But so far, the officials did not provide any clear explanation to us,” he added.
Solomon Star contacted MCILI for comments yesterday and the official spoken to by phone said he would get back to the paper on the matter, but he never did before this edition went to print.
