A SOLOMON Islands student studying in Philippines has died on Tuesday morning.
The National Training Unit (NTU) of the Ministry of Education Human Resource Development director Clement Tito confirmed this to Solomon Star, Tuesday.
Mr Tito said the student was not on government scholarship but self-sponsored.
However, at the time of the interview, NTU was trying to get in touch with family members of the deceased.
Local students studying in Philippines also confirmed the death to the Solomon Star.
They said students are now gathering at the hospital morgue yesterday upon learning of the student’s death.
According to a student, the deceased went to bed that night and never woke up.
“He slept and never woke up in the morning.
“His roommates attempted to wake him up but his body was cold and motionless,” he said.
The student said they rushed him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
He said the student was not sick and was never admitted at any hospital before.
The deceased was from Malaita province.
