STUDENTS now are the future of the country.
In her speech at the Honiara Senior High School’s graduation ceremony yesterday, the Minister for Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD), Lanelle Tanangda, highlighted that the graduands are the future of this nation.
“Graduands you may not fully appreciate this but you are the future of our country.
“What this means is that the older generation will no longer be around therefore, you have to be trained or prepared well for the important roles and responsibilities you will play in the not too distant future, in order to drive the economic and social growth and other development to advance our country,” she said.
Mrs Tanangada said that about 70 percent of Solomon Islands’ population is below 30 years of age
This is the age category of the students who are graduating today.
She said the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) which she is member of, through her ministry has been working tirelessly towards harnessing Solomon Islands human capital, in order to grow the Solomon Islands’ economy and collective wellbeing.
“This means opportunities are being provided to young people of your age, through our education system so that you can develop skills and personal development training you needs to lead fulfilling lives,” Mrs Tanangada said.
The MEHRD Minister added that these students need to grab the opportunity and work hard to realise the potential God has blessed you with!
