HONIARA High School students and their teacher on Thursday confronted a prominent Honiara businessman over foul smell emanating from ABA Corporation premises in Chinatown.
The bad smell was believed to have come from rotten products thrown into a drainage that runs between the classroom and ABA compound.
The students and their deputy principal Allen Ketei arrived at the ABA office demanding that the bade smell be addressed as they can no longer stand it.
“This started since last week and continued throughout this week,” one of the students said.
“We can no longer stand it this is why we decided to come straight to ABA,” he added.
Anthony Hong of ABA who met the students apologised and assured them the situation will be addressed.
“We apologised for what has happened and I can assure you that we are working on that,” Mr Hong said.
“We believed that the foul smell must be coming from the drainage that we shared with the school that runs between our compound and the classroom building.
“We think that that drainage system is the responsibility of both the school and ABA.
“We build the drainage system for free, and the school’s drainage system also connects to our one so we think the school also has a responsibility to maintain it.
“It’s not something to argue or protest about, but it’s our responsibility to maintain the drainage system,” Mr Hong said.
