TWO primary schools in Marovo Lagoon, Western province last week were engaged in an excursion to learn about the marine environment.
Solomon Island Community Conservation Partnership (SICCP) organised the excursion for primary school students at Hinakole Adventist primary and Chibikopi United both located in central Marovo.
Hinakole students underwent their excursion on Tuesday while Chubikopi on Wednesday.
SICCP field officer Tusa Jewia told the Solomon Star from Seghe yesterday that the excursion was part of the SICCP awareness program to schools.
“The main aim of this excursion is to help our primary students to understand our marine environment and observe the marine life.
“Most students never understand environment and its surrounding both on the land and under the sea, therefore this excursion aims to help them understand their marine environment,” Mr Jewia said.
Mr Jewia thanked head teachers of both primary schools for inviting SICCP to conduct such environmental awareness in their schools.
Other primary schools in Marovo will undergo similar excursion soon.
