GOVERNMENT sponsored students studying at the University of South Pacific’s (USP’s) Laucala Campus in Fiji have finally received their March allowances, Friday.
This was confirmed by Solomon Islands Students Association (SISA) to the Solomon Star.
Over the weeks, students have expressed frustration in the media over the delay of their March allowances.
However, it was a relief when students checked their bank account yesterday afternoon to see their money (allowances) deposited into their bank accounts.
“It is a sigh of relief as some of us will now settle our rental dues for the month, pay for our food and other supplies and budget for our transportation to and from the campus for those of us who rented houses off-campus,” one student said.
SISA described yesterday as a day of relief for the students.
Meanwhile, SISA thanked the students for their patience over the past weeks.
They also commended the Education attaché in Fiji and the national government for all their effort in ensuring everyone (students) received their March allowances this week.
The issue with the delay of students’ allowances is not new for Government sponsored students studying in Fiji – an issue that needs to be addressed efficiently.
