Taiwanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands His Excellency Victor Yu has challenged Gwaigeo Community High School students to work hard and not waste any opportunity in life order to climb up the social scale in their life of education.
He revealed this during a visit by a high level of delegation to the school last Wednesday.
During the visit Mr Yu has donated a total of 25 boxes of school materials to Gwageo students.
Speaking during the presentation Mr Yu said, student you are the future of Solomon Islands.
“So successful education will give you a brighter future and your brighter country.
“This is the beginning of your education so I encourage you the students to work hard, study hard in order to excel in the future.”
He said, Solomon Islands is rich country in terms of resources, but you have to make development in a sustainable way.
“Because one day you are going to run out of your resources, so the most important thing is to cultivate your human resources through education.
“Taiwan has offered a good example for the Solomon Islands Government and its people,” Mr Yu said.
He highlighted that Taiwanese Government offers scholarship to Solomon Island students every year.
“So you must study hard in order to apply for the opportunity to pursue higher level of education in Taiwan. It’s a very generous scholarship, but you have to be very good and worthy.”
The Taiwanese government continues to support Solomon Islands in tertiary education each year by providing funds to allow the students to study in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and Australia and other parts of the pacific.
