UP to 11 students who were awarded scholarships to study at the University of the South Pacific (USP) Alafua campus in Samoa are yet to leave for their studies.
And they are getting frustrated at the National Training Unit’s (NTU) delay to release them their tickets so that they could fly over.
“We were awarded the scholarships three weeks ago, but since then, we were not given our tickets,” their spokesman said.
“Every time we call in at NTU, they would just tell us to wait, saying ‘bae ufala go nomoa ia’,” he said.
The student added most of them are first year students and they need to leave for their studies as soon as possible.
“In fact, we were three weeks late already. We need to go.”
He said their worry is this type of delay may end up them not going at all.
“At the moment we are in the dark and confused.”
NTU director, Clement Tito said that they are aware of the case and are addressing it.
