ROYAL Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Malaita Province are investigating an alleged suicide incident involving a 12-year-old girl who lost her life over the weekend at Gwounaoa area in Malaita.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Malaita Provincial Inspector Michial Ramosaea confirmed this to Solomon Star Auki, Monday.
He said police are investigating the case to find out if there’s any possible foul play that led to the death of the young girl.
The deceased was discovered hanging from a rope tied to her neck on Friday evening between 6 pm -7 pm at a cocoa plantation.
Following the discovery, the family of the deceased reported the matter to the police.
The police visited the scene and have launched an investigation into the death of the young girl.
Meanwhile, police are calling on those who live around that may have some information relating to the deceased’s last moments to come forward and aid police with the investigation.
PPC Ramosaea said at this stage police are yet to determine if foul play was involved in the case.
