MALAITA provincial premier Daniel Suidani has expressed disappointment with government’s failure to meet him upon his arrival last week in Honiara.
Suidani said he was requested last week by the government to come over to Honiara but when he arrived on Thursday, no one calls him for the proposed meeting with senior government officials.
He said before he came to Honiara, he was told that he will meet the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Minister for Provincial Government which does not eventuate.
“I was here on the request of Prime Minister and the Minister of Provincial Government but sadly during my short stay here in Honiara, no one come to see me or call me except my Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Provincial Government has visited me,” he said.
He said he has to go back to Malaita on Friday due to his busy schedule with his people of Malaita.
“I have my commitment with my people of Malaita especially seeing that Malaita province is now fragile so I have to be there to keep the peace,” he said.
Suidani said he was willing and ready to give his ideas to the Prime Minister on behalf of his people but that has not happened.
“I was expecting to meet the PM and since they don’t call me or meet me, nothing else I can do but to go back to Malaita and that really disappoints me,” he said.
Meanwhile, in response the Ministry of Provincial Government has clarified the request for the meeting. See page 12 for full response.
