MALAITA’S Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA)-elect for West Fataleka Ward, Daniel Suidani says he has had a meeting with the majority of MPAs to form the next provincial government and he bids to be the Premier again.
Mr Suidani revealed this to Solomon Star in Auki, Thursday.
Suidani served as Premier of Malaita since June 2019 but was ousted in a motion of no-confidence moved by Martin Fini who succeeded him as Premier. Suidani’s ousting from the premiership was followed through with his removal from the Malaita Provincial Assembly. Suidani’s refusal to recognize the One-China Principle was the core reason for both his removal from the premiership and the West Fataleka Ward Seat.
The results from the Provincial Election held synchronously with the National General Election last Wednesday saw the return of Suidani and the exit of Fini to the Malaita Provincial Assembly.
Seven MPAs from the ousted Suidani-led Malaita Alliance for Rural Advancement (MARA) government have retained their seats.
This positive election outcome places Suidani in strong position to form the next government and lead Malaita Province based on the MARA ideologies.
Mr Suidani said he is working to assume the premiership from which he was removed ‘by some forces who tried to wipe out the beliefs driven by his MARA government.’
“I had a meeting with the majority of the elected MPAs to form the next government. Eight MPAs of the MARA government, including myself, and on the basis of this positive development, I am looking forward to successfully contesting the premiership again.”
“The meeting was attended by more than 20 MPAs and I’m positive for the best outcome.”
