A FORMER Malaita Premier and President of Umi for Change (U4C) Party Daniel Suidani will be re-contesting the Ward 5 Provincial Assembly in Malaita Province seat in the April 17 joint elections.
Mr Suidani announced this at the Coalition for Accountability, Reform and Empowerment (CARE) manifesto launch in Auki last Friday.
Mr Suidani was removed from his provincial assembly seat of Ward 5 (Baegu) in West Fataleka by the National Government in April 2023 for refusing to recognize the One China Principle.
The U4C President and his party members joined the CARE manifesto launch in support of their move to work together to contest the elections.
CARE is led by former Opposition Leader and former Member of Parliament for Aoke-Langalanga Constituency Mathew Wale and a former Prime Minister and former MP for Small Malaita Rick Hou.
Mr Suidani said there are comments and complaints by some people about the national government’s failure to address basic infrastructure and health facilities, including medicine supplies, at rural health centers in the country.
He said the current poor road condition, poor health services and lack of medicine supplies at rural health centers are the results of bad leadership and failed governance.
Mr Suidani said it is a time that people turn from such bad governance and leadership that does not care about the infrastructure, health and education needs of Solomon Islanders.
He reminded Malaitans to vote for candidates contesting under CARE coalition, which includes U4C, Solomon Islands Democratic Party (SIDP), Democratic Alliance Party (DAP).
“The poor road condition, lack of medicines and the increase in the rate of school fees every year are clear examples of bad governance and leadership in this country.
“These are clear indications for people to know and choose the next lot of leaders in the upcoming elections.”
