SOLOMON ISLANDS renowned international veteran striker, Batram Suri has been appointed as head coach to lead the country’s national U19 men’s team for the Oceania U19 World Cup Qualifiers.
This was confirmed by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) technical department on Tuesday.
Suri will be assisted by former international defender, Eddie Rukumana.
The duo started their first task since their appointment with the trials of the U19 players.
The trials which are supported by the SIFF’s technical department started on Monday and will continue throughout the week.
More than 40 players who were selected from the 2017 Youth Solomon Cup tournament are part of the trials.
The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U19 championship will be held around August in Tahiti.
It also serves as the Oceania U20 World Cup qualifiers.
The winner and the runner up of the competition will qualify to represent the Oceania region in the FIFA U20 World Cup next year.
