POLICE are continuing to appeal to families and relatives of the suspect in the stabbing incident inside a public transport bus along the Mbokonavera-Skyline road in Honiara early this year to surrender him to police.
The Police Media Unit said police were unable to arrest the suspect as he has no permanent address and has been moving from one place to another to avoid police arrest.
“The suspect is still on the run and police have yet to arrest him,” the Police Media Unit stated.
The Police Media Unit said police are appealing to families and relatives of the suspect to surrender him.
“Harbouring of a criminal is an offense under the laws of Solomon Islands.”
“Police Investigators are continuing their surveillance on the whereabouts of the suspect as he is still at large.”
The incident happened on 20 January 2023 inside a public bus.
An earlier report stated that victim boarded the bus from the Honiara City Council Skyline Bus Stop.
He was returning home after he bought some cabbage from the Honiara Central Market.
It was reported that the suspect sat next to the victim inside the bus.
The suspect asked the victim for his phone but the victim refused which resulted in the suspect stabbing him multiple times with a scissors.
It was also reported that suspect instructed the bus driver to tell the victim to hand over his phone and the bus driver did.
The suspect then took the phone and left.
The matter was later reported to the Police.
