Auki police in Malaita Province has arrested six suspects alleged to be responsible for slicing a man’s arm at Talakali, near Auki, Tuesday.
Reports reaching this paper revealed that the incident was election related.
When contacted Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Alfred Uiga confirmed the incident.
He said that the disagreement arise between supporters of the winning candidate of Aoke-Langlanga and the runner up supporters, which resulted in the unlawful act.
“The victim’s hand was sliced with a knife, however relatives rushed him immediately to Kilu’ufi Hospital for medication.
“Six suspects have been arrested and are now in police custody,” he said.
Mr Uiga condemned such act and call on people to respect each other and not take law into their own hands.
Police investigation is underway.
