THE fastest man in the Pacific is closer to achieving his dream of running under 10 seconds in the 100m event.
Banuve Tabakaucoro trimmed his time from 10.32s to 10.02s over the weekend but he said it was calculated using the hand timer.
He said he would be able to slash a few more seconds off that time in another few months’ time so that he could be running the 100m in nine seconds.
“That has always been the play,” the Digicel Fiji-brand ambassador said.
“Coach Bola Tafo’ou and I have been working well in the past few weeks and over the weekend, we ran some really good times.
“I think with more overseas exposure we will be able to drop those times even quicker.”
However, Tabakaucoro has only two overseas competitions lined up for this year — the Australian Championships in Sydney next month and the Oceania Area Championships in Cook Islands in June.
He missed out on an opportunity to compete in the World Indoor Championship in Poland.
