Solomon Islands Taekwondo Union SITU is calling on the national taekwondo team to resume its training this week in preparation for the upcoming international tournaments this year.
SITU Secretary General John Alick made the call yesterday for athletes who represented the country in the recent Pacific Games to attend training starting this morning.
Alick said training will start this morning at the multipurpose hall and all athletes who are currently in the national team were asked to attend the training.
“There were number of international tournaments scheduled for this year starting with the Oceania Olympic qualifier next month in Papua New Guinea,” he said.
He said the focus for the national team now is on the Oceania Olympic qualifier.
Training will start this week and the training days are; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Each training will start at 6am and finishes at 9am.
Solomon Islands has never qualify for the Olympic before and next month’s Oceania Olympic qualifier will provide a perfect chance for the country to qualify for the first time.
