THE Taiwanese embassy in Honiara has donated two sets of woodball equipment to St. Nicholas High School in Honiara, Thursday.
Francis Soong, the embassy’s first secretary, delivered the equipment to the school.
Mr Soong said his government was pleased to assist the school with the equipment, to be used by the student to play Woodball, a game founded in Taiwan.
The donation came as a result of the long-standing relations between Taiwan and Solomon Islands.
Over the past years, Taiwan Youth ambassadors visited the country and shared their cultures with various high schools in Honiara.
St Nicholas was one of the schools.
The youths were understood to have taught the students how to play woodball.
Mr Soong said he was pleased to note St Nicholas students had an interest in woodball.
St Nicholas deputy principal James Lengi thanked Taiwan for the donation.
He said the equipment would be used to further promote the sport in their school and the country.
“This sport is fair, manageable and workable as it does not count on gender and it can be played in small areas in the school,” Mr Lengi said.
