St. Theresa Takwa primary school in Morth Malaita is undergoing upgrading works to its buildings.
Education Secretary of the Catholic diocese of Auki Ben Aefi said currently work is being done to renovate a single storey building into a double storey complex.
The concrete building was constructed in the 70’s by Marist missionaries and is quite old and therefore the renovation is very much needed.
The old building used to accommodate preparatory and standard two classes. And the rest of the primary classes are accommodated within the secondary sector at the northern end of Takwa Catholic mission station.
However, when completed, the upgraded building will house three rooms on each floor and hence all primary classes will be relocated back to southern side of the station.
According to Mr Aefi, five classrooms and an office space will accommodate in the renovated building.
Meanwhile, primary sector staff housing renovations are also underway at the moment.
