People from Talakali in Langa-Langa lagoon in Malaita province evacuated to the nearby hills when the tsunami warning was issued following the 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Sunday night.
Report reaching this paper on Monday said most people fled to higher grounds for their safety.
An elder from Talakali community said everyone panicked when they heard rumors that a tsunami is coming.
Robert Nolisiota said after the earthquake no body remained in the village on Sunday night.
The entire village returned yesterday morning when warning was cancelled.
He added Talakali school also closed for classes because teachers and students fled to higher ground.
The community is calling on the Member of Parliament to provide them with tents and canvas to be used as an evacuation camps in times of such incident.
