The much awaited Aquila Talasasa festival will is set to be staged this week.
However it would be staged on a low scale due to lack of funds. This was revealed by the Western provincial tourism minister Chris Mesepitu.
“The festival will be organised on a small scale since the organising committee is facing financial constrains to host the event.”
The festival will be hosted at the Kennedy stadium starting tomorrow and will end on Friday.
The minister said the province is committed to host the event despite lack of funds.
“Everyone is well prepared for the event,” Mr Mesepitu said.
A number of groups within the province will take part in the programme.
“Groups around Western province have been arranged and they should be arriving by OBM today (yesterday) ahead for this festival.
“But those from the CFC that we invited would not be able to make it since they lost their leader,” Mr Mesepitu said.
The provincial thanked sponsors Our Telekom, SIVB and Bowmans for supporting the program.
“On behalf of the Western provincial government, I would like to thank the sponsors for supporting this event.
“Without their support this program would not be possible,” Mr Mesepitu said.
Its understood that a team from the SIVB including a travel writer from Australia will leave Honiara this moring to attend the festival in Gizo.
