Catholic women of Tangarare Parish in West Guadalcanal are in full strength preparing for the big day set for next week.
The event is going to be held at Saint Joseph Tangarare which comes under the Archdiocese of Honiara.
This gathering is in celebration of the feast of the Assumption of Mary which will take place in Tangarare on August 11th -15th.
The theme of the gathering is “Joining together with faith and hope.” This gathering occurs in every two years.
This program is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Sir Manasseh Sogavare, MP for West Guadalcanal Constituency Moses Garu, the Royal Solomon Islands police force (RSIPF) officers, members of the women’s Desk Office and the Caritas representative Peter Liama.
One of the highlights of the day will be the parade by the women in parishes, flag raising, welcome speech by Tangarare Parish coordinator, message from parish priest and women’s desk.
The main speech of the day will be delivered by the Honourable Prime Minister (PM) Sir Manasseh Sagovare.
Some other speeches and awareness talks will be presented by the representative of the RSIPF, MHMS and representative from Ministry of Women–Martha Horiwapu.
The opportunity will also be given to CARITAS and the SEIF-PLES.
There will be a cultural night, drama and many more funny and life experience events will be show case by the women.
Coordinator of the Catholic woman of Tangarare Parish Mrs. Lucy Manekako appeal to all women who will take part in the celebration to work together and show kindness and respect to each other during the event.
She said, “as this is the only time we come together to know each other, I urge each one of us (woman) to work together and show our love and kindness as this is the only time we come together to celebrate the assumption of Mary in every two years. We will make the most of it in this gathering.”
Members of the public are also invited to join in any part of the celebration.
“We entrust this gathering to the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary that all Catholic mother will be blessed after this gathering.”
