THE first phase of the tar sealing of road from Henderson is progressing well and has now reached ‘Nine One’.
The work has been applauded by members of the public.
There has been extensive work been done to complete the project before the 2023 South Pacific Games starts in November.
This road project is a face lift for Guadalcanal and Honiara.
It is a 6.3km road project.
In an initial report, His Excellency Morimoto Yasuhiro, the former Ambassador of Japan to Solomon Islands said the Kukum Highway Phase Two project is the continuation from where Kukum Highway Phase One ended.
The project component will include a 4.3km road to Lunga Bridge and a 2km two lane from Lunga to the Honiara International Airport.
The road project includes the construction of the drainage systems, bus stops, street lights, traffic signboards, and pavement markings.
This road project will change the landscape of Honiara and Guadalcanal province.
