ROYAL Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has established a taskforce to investigate allegations of abductions and associated gender-based violence.
The taskforce consists of detectives from Central CID, Naha CID and NCID who are actively reviewing all incoming leads and engaging with members of the community who may have information to assist Police activities.
This is part of RSIPF’s commitment to the safety and security of the community.
Acts of violence against women and children and the spreading of malicious rumours to incite disorder or fear will be investigated and those responsible put before the courts, Police said.
The RSIPF has deployed all available resources to identify and locate persons responsible for recent incidents and the escalation of associated gender-based violence in Honiara and the surrounding Guadalcanal Province region.
High visibility patrols have been deployed across Honiara streets to ensure the safety and security of our city.
RSIPF uniformed police are supported by the Police Response Department (PRD) and are ready to respond to unlawful activity, particularly around schools and community sites to uphold law and order in Solomon Islands by providing a safe, secure and peaceful environment.
Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said, there is a great sense of relief from fear and panic in communities, since the commencement of the Operation.
Furthermore, the general security situation in the City is quiet and peaceful as reported by operational teams and Communities that have been visited during the Operation.
The Officer in Charge of Sabre Taskforce, Detective Staff Sergeant Michael Manuala advised that RSIPF investigators will continue to work alongside members of the community to actively pursue all leads to ensure the safety and security of the public, especially vulnerable groups such as women and children.
“Allegations will be taken very seriously, and my team are committed to conducting thorough, transparent investigations to bring clarity and justice to all involved.
“Our investigation teams are following up on multiple reports and are gathering evidence through witness statements, forensic analysis and CCTV footage review.” Detective Sergeant Manuala said.
Police encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately to the RSIPF.
“Anyone with information related to these incidents is urged to come forward, as community involvement is crucial in helping to resolve these matters quickly and effectively,” the police administration said.
